When I was a KID, it also marked the END of the Christmas VACATIONS ... And on that day, my grand-maman Gabrielle would bake a GALETTE and hide a little porcelain FIGURINE inside, which we call a FÈVE (bean)... The person who was served the PART of the cake WITH the treasure got CROWNED king or queen of the DAY ...
I love this TRADITION and perpetuate it ... Every year, I drive to town to a SPECIAL French BAKERY to buy their GALETTE DES ROIS, a golden flaky pastry stuffed with almond paste cream or FRANGIPANE that we have for DESSERT en famille on January 6 ...
This year, I ALMOST broke a front TOOTH of the FÈVE before being declared QUEEN of the DAY ! BONNE FÊTE des ROIS to all of YOU !
