FUN KNITTED EYE CANDIES ...

This morning, as usual, coffee cup in hand, I shuffled to my studio to have my daily morning one-hour web navigating session. I try to limit myself time-wise or I will end up spending the entire day drooling in front of my laptop screen ...

So much stuff to get inspired with and such a limited number of hands to work with (sigh ...)

Featured on Etsy's home page, xbloom crocheted pet hats made my day! This little googly-eyed pet monster hat is just perfect !

I would love it so if I could convince my 3 dogs and my 5 cats to wear a different monster-style hat ! It would be like leave in a house full of strange four-legged furry trolls !

And look at another style available!

A red devil hat, just like the one the cat is wearing in my latest Two Devils painting (featured on the top-right side of my blog and available on eBay and Etsy!)

If you have a cat or a dog (or an iguana or a parrot or a monkey) you gotta check this store!

I learned knitting and crocheting at a very young age. Both my grand-mothers were good working with yarn and my mom too. So very naturally I was attracted to it.

I knitted and crocheted all kinds of tiny items for my creature houses (I was never too found of dolls but liked building furniture for character toys of all kinds). I remember making a tiny seaside chalet à-la-Thumbelina with a cardboard cookie box, using a half-walnut shell to make a bed for which I crocheted a tiny, tiny striped afghan.

My knitting, like anything I created I guess, had to be bold, colorful and a bit on the wild and unusual style.

And it still is ...

I have been working on and off on this big sweater, using all the wool remnants my grand-mothers had kept with the years and passed on to me.

A mixture of once knitted baby socks, a girlish pink frilled top that I hated wearing, a blanket I use on my first camping night when I was a scoutgirl.

A melting pot of wooly souvenirs. threads of special moments ...
All it needs now is to finish its collar, then it will be done!

Don't you think it looks like a big bowl of licorice allsorts ?

HAPPY HENS AND A HANDFUL OF CHOCOLATES ...

... means SPRING is here !

The day after Valentine Day is our signal !

February 15 has arrived with its warmer sunrays and its soft and lovely end of the afternoon light.

The hens are out of their little coop and already trying to scratch away winter. The line of plant cuttings sitting in glasses of water on my kitchen's window sill are starting to root ...

Yes! OUR Spring is here!

Of course there will be more snow, probably still a few blizzards and an ice storm, but our hearts have been warmed up yesterday and in our house this special date on the calendar means there is no turning back, we are on the good way !

On my way to buy the best almond croissants in Abercorn, a village nearby, I stopped at a church sale and look at the treasures I found!

A pair of dish-washing gloves so pretty I would wear them with a flower dress to do my grocery shopping! And my all-time favorite book that I must have read about 30 times when I was about 8 years old, Les Malheurs de Sophie written by La Comtesse de Ségur, quite a strange book actually telling the story of this nasty little girl playing bad tricks on anything she could put her hand on ... Then this wonderful little Kawaii miniature desert-shaped erasers set !

And, the cherry to top the sundae, this amazing Invisible Woman Revell glue-together plastic kit that I used to dream about when I was a kid. I have always been fascinated with anatomy and these see-through characters are a favorite of mine! And I got it for 50 cents!

I just love these impromptus why-not out-the-way stops where you find marvels that seem to have been waiting for you ...

February 15 also means that it is time to announce the winner of my offerings for the One World One Heart event!

I am simply amazed at the number of bloggers who have taken the time to visit My Pink Turtle and to leave wonderful comments. I wish I could have given each of you a little prize! Of course, I am still on slow-speed internet, which means that I did not have enough time to visit everyone's blog and leave comments to but I promise that in the coming days I will get in touch with you. The response to this giveaway has been greater than I ever expected. You are the best!

And the winner is:

FLOR LARIOS, who is an incredible artist and paints the most beautiful angels and madonas you have ever seen! You have to visit her blog to feast your eyes on her art!

Flor, I know you will not believe this, I was so happy when I pulled you name out of my magician's hat!

Bravo Flor !

Come and get your prize, querida !

And to the other participants, I promise I will have another giveaway soon !

And before I forget! The auction on eBay for my Dark Angel painting is ending tonite! Don't miss it!

AT LAST, A NEW PAINTING ...

Little red devils and red hearts are two of my favorite things !

and angels ...

and cats, of course !

Anything red or pink will do ...

I finished this little painting yesterday night, just in time for Valentine Day. It is a combination of all these things I love. With a bit of humour and sweetness added to it.

Tu es mon petit diable (you are my little devil)...

Je t'aime en diable translates to I love you like the devil but it really means in French I love you incredibly ...

Two Little Devils is on eBay right now and I have listed it also in my Etsy store, if you want to buy it right away!

I have a few more paintings ready to show you, so stay tuned!

Love

A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING ...

I love bright colors !

And I adore colorful little objects of all kinds grouped together. These amusing arrangements scattered around my house make me smile when I walk pass them. These little toys and figures are tiny treasures I found in local thrift stores a few weeks ago and gifts a friend brought me back from Mexico.

They inspire me so !

Ha!

My studio has gone back to its incredibly messy state, which is a very good sign. I have been working on so many paintings and projects at the same time there is not an inch of table top available for more at the moment ...

See all these sketches? Yes! They are all on canvas now, half-way done and soon to be available in my shop. I feel incredibly creative these days, I think my newly-fixed right hand has a life of itself ! It just flies around !

Winter is always a good season for me. I can stay all day in my studio without feeling guilty. When spring arrives, nature's call is so strong that I have to wear ear-muffs all day-long. This way, I do not hear the mermaid-flowers' songs calling me and begging me to "please come and play with us". But ... The animals are completely depressed and so miserable !

Life is tough, I tell you !

Hibernation is the solution !

I added these 3 little Frida wooden block prints in my Etsy shop yesterday. Don't they look lovely grouped together on a pink wall? I have many other styles available and if you purchase 5 of them you get another one for FREE !

I have also relisted two original paintings on eBay, a Little Striped Witch and a Dark Angel with Skulls. These paintings were sold but the buyer could not go through with payment due to illness, a situation that I completely understand. These two paintings are posted in the right-hand column here. Hopefully, they will be adopted soon! If you do not wish to bid, they are also listed in my Etsy store!

Well, enough said ! Gotta go back to work !

And before I forget, did I ever tell you how much I enjoy your visits and the comments you leave ?

You are the sunshine of my blog !

BLUUUUUUETIFUL WINTER ...

There is nothing bluer than a sunny winter afternoon in Southern Quebec ...

Snow creating weird shapes of all kinds ...

Breathtaking images that leaves imprints on your mind like snowshoes in the snow ...

There is nothing more decorative ...

Nothing more majestic ...

Beautiful marshmallow winter days ...

Nothing to make you feel so close to nature ...

yet so small and alone in this white immensity ...

I love my winter days when time seems to stand still ...

Nothing can be heard other than the wind and the road cracking under our feet ...

Flakes have taken over the scene ...

leaving nothing else to do than marvel and be amazed at such big amounts of beauty in a single winter day ...

I just love these blue winter moments ...
