SOLD !!!
We had a hard time coming back from my parents' place yesterday night.

Each Friday after school, Ulysse and I go and have supper with them then we spend the rest of the night chatting, playing games, working on different craft projects and playing scrabble. They live on Lake Sleby, 20 minutes from where we live, which is very handy. When I got pregnant, my parents moved from Montreal to the Eastern Township so they would be close to Ulysse and enjoy him fully. They have been there full-time since his birth, he calls them almost daily and they are the best grand-parents he could have ...

But yesterday, the snow was falling so fast and so heavily and steadily that we regretted leaving their place to climb the Pinacle mountain to go back home. Visibility was nul, the roads were slippery and you could not make the center of the road from the sides of it, which made it quite difficult to drive the old Volvo. We had a good laugh any ways, decided to roll down the windows despite the snow falling inside the car and both of us stuck our head out outside so we could see where we were heading. We were driving real slow and passed a group of about 25 deers in one of the fields nearby. Magic! We finally got home safely ... Gotta be tough to live in the countryside in Quebec in winter and on a mountain !!!

All this to say that we woke up this morning, once again, with tons of snow... I know, the current winter always seems worst than the past ones... But, winter IS winter and the landscape is incredible!

Marshmallow land!

I finished this little COFFEE OR TEA FAIRY painting yesterday and decided to paint it without considering so much my color palette. Sometimes, I find myself jammed in makink a choice for colors. I do not want to repeat myself from one painting to another but again, we all have our favorites and this is was distinguishes one artist from another. I am quite happy with the results, the painting is cheerful and bold, just what I wanted! What do you think? COFFEE OR TEA FAIRY is currently available on eBay and in my Etsy shop. Talking about my Etsy shop, just wanted to remind you that each painting sold is then offered in a printed format. So, come and check my store, I have over 45 different prints for sale ! Also, for some reason, I seem to have problems with my Etsy Convo service, some messages do not reach me, same for my sent convos. I have told Etsy about this and they are looking into this for me.

Look what Francois gave me as a belated Valentine Day gift! A Frida metal art sculpture! I LOOOOOVE IT ! He got his inspiration from one of my paintings! Oh! JUST MY KIND OF GIFT ! And look how fascinating it is when the sun casts a shadow of it on the wall ! IT IS FABULOUS ! THANK YOU MY LOVE !

I had fun snapping pictures of Ulysse's shadow on the wall just before sunset. This is magic that only happens this time of the year. In a few weeks, the sun will set differently and will no longer flow through the windows at the same angle.

I hope everyone is having a swell weekend! Remember, the days are getting longer so spring is not very far away ...

SOLD !!!

I love gardening!

And I like growing everything from seeds sown myself in a pot of dirt.

I marvel at seeing a tiny sprout sticking its head out of the soil at first and I enjoy watching the plant grow like I do with my own child.

I miss playing in the mud gloveless, pulling weeds between the rows of vegetable, watering the garden just before the sun sets.

I am a sucker for bold and wildly colored flowers, the taller the better! In summer, the beauty of the crazy zinnias, the majesty of the showy dahlias, the daintiness of the cosmos and the towering height of the hollyhocks bring me to tears.

I have been known to talk to my flowers and sometimes have serious conversation with them on subject I would not dare touch with humans...

Hey girls! How are we doing today? Getting thirsty? You're looking mighty fine this morning!

Hurray up, Spring !

Melt all that snow away so I can do my favorite thing in the world, lay on my back in the green grass, smell Mother Nature's perfume and watch the leaves in the maple trees contrast with the blue, blue sky ...

Flower Girls Trio is a portrait of my garden friends as they talk to me...

Aren't they adorable?

The painting is currently available on eBay if you feel like bidding and in my Etsy store if you want to buy the painting right now.

Ah! Spring, pleeeeeeeease !!!

SOLD !!!

Painting always brings me a lot of pleasure ...

I fill sketch books with drawings and ideas on a daily basis. Some drawings are ready to jump on a canvas, others need to ripen on my pinboard. And some others are filed in one of the numerous 3-ring red binders that I keep around in my studio that I consider my brain's drawers.

Yesterday, I dug in one of those drawers and found a little sketch of Frida I had drawn in Mexico, last year, while we were on vacations. And it feels like a little window opened in my soul and a mild breeze from the Yucatan ocean blew in...

I listened to some Tito Puentes Cuban Salsa full-blast, took out my box of favorite bold and torrid (love that word !) colors and had tons of fun painting this little Frida y Las Mascaras de la Vida. I particularly like how the background's greenish-turquoise color came out, a bit toned like a semi-precious stone and how you can see one of her eyes through the devil mask. All done in the vibrant Mexican colors I love so much!

Frida y Mascaras is available on eBay in my Etsy store if you want it and you want it now.

Let's see ... which mask should I wear tomorrow? My mischievous devil mask or my sweet angel mask?

Oh! Mexico! I miss you so ...

I hope everyone is having a wonderful VALENTINE DAY !

Ours has been mellow and quiet and affectionate family-style. The guys wanted sushi for this special occasion so I made tons of it for supper while Ulysse saranaded me with his newly acquired guitar-player talents. Francois did not get to finish his gift on time, a new metal sculpture, but I forgive him, it will be a belated gift later this week. Tonite, we watched a few movies while eating tons of assorted chocolate

The day is almost over but I wanted to take a few minutes to wish you a

Hey guys! Cheer up!

For sure, spring is on its way!

Today I saw a snow butterfly!

This specie can only be found on the Pinnacle Mountain in Quebec at a certain time in the middle of winter and you have to be very lucky to be able to view it while it stretches its wings, ready to take flight!

I am always surprised at the strange wildlife variety we can witness around here!

Yesterday, believe it or not, a Yeti, or if you may, an abominable snowman, was spying on us through the front door's window!

Ah! Nature will never cease to amaze me!

I love red !

I adore pink !

These colors have been my favorites since I was a teenager ! The first 2 1/2 bedroom appartment I rented in an old 3-story house in Montreal when I was 18 was entirely painted pink. I was quite a rebel at the time, you know, just your regular mini-skirt-worn-with-pink-hightop-converse-running-shoes girl, sporting a boyish haircut dyed platinum blonde, riding my red mountain bike even during the worst snowy days of winter, always between two planes, traveling around the world with my leopard-print backback wherever the wind took me ...

As you must know by now, I love bold Mexican colors! I like colors that sing and dance, I love colors that scream and shout! I have this big thing about color matches and color love stories. Applying colors side by side is like a dating game ... Some suit each other, some just don't!

Very often I am amazed at the sight of a color combination just there, waiting to be admired...

And sometimes the color magic is so strong that it makes me giggle with joy! I can not help it !

Like this little canvas of color in the corner of my studio, not staged, not prepared ... It just painted itself into a burst of perfect happy harmony!

I love you this big ...

I finished this little LOVE ANGEL & RED BIRD painting yesterday. Don't you love her little leopard vest and her yellow and black striped socks? What about the little red bird on her head holding a message of love?

You can bid on her on eBay or purchase it right away in my Etsy store.

Not much time left before Valentine Day and I think she would make a wonderful gift to someone special to you!

We are having a beautiful winter week, full of sun, hope of warmer days, no new snow and is it a hint of a smell of maple sap boiling on the stove soon to come yet too early.

I am in particular good creative spirit, you know, when it flows it pours! No problems with production, sparks of ideas or positive attitude, it is all there and I have tons of it!

Francois (the husbie) is in a creative mood too, working on a new metal art portfolio a big client asked for and he is anxious to be working outside in his summer shop.

Ulysse (the son) is doing wonderfully in his first year of high school, getting into music option quite seriously, switching from clarinet to saxophone to trumpet, tyring to find the instrument right for him. He made a bunch of new friends and has grown up so much since September ... But I guess highschool will do that to you ... He too is dreaming about building fires outside to smelt aluminum for his sculptures, working on his little summer shack and going trout fishing.

In case you are not aware of this, I am having two different giveaways in the same week, Just Because Giveaway and One World One Heart Giveaway. Both surprise prizes will be different and awesome so make sure you enter both separately!

Enough chatting now, gotta go make myself a new pot of hazelnut cream coffee and finish a few more paintings ...

Hope you have a great sunny day too!
