and he brought me a slow and easy day wrapped in warm weather, bits of sunshine and tons of rain.
Most of the snow has melted away and we scored a 15 degrees Celcius (here's a quick trick to translate Celcius to Farenheit: times 2 plus 32, ex. 15 x 2 = 30, plus 32 = 64 F !!!), almost a record high for this time of the year. The chicken came out of their coop for a pecking feast and left alien foot steps in the slush. No more snow in the garden ... All that green seemed to glow and and looked so fresh ...
Mikey could not skate any more on the tiny pond so he went ice-fishing ... Today, with Spring patting my shoulder, I have decided I am walking backward from now on ... No more of that growing older, I wanna be 16 forever !!!

Candy-striped towels, a swiss chocolate wrapped in metallic paper, a book on chicken, a piece of my home-made Bûche de Noël on a festive plate and a red bandanna used as a napkin ...
Christmas was nice and simple, joyful and peaceful.
A spiffy red hiking bag , a gift from my bro, a polka-dot cup with tiny grater and box of chocolate to make hot cocoa, a gift from my Ulysse, a spunky red-dressed lady on a fun Christmas card, a Swiss Army Knife and a pair of hand-knitted slippers from my mom (we all got a different colored pair, mine of course, was red) ...
Just a small gathering made of us three, Francois, Ulysse and I, and my parents who live 10 minutes away, and my brother Richard who came from Laval, not far from Montreal, to celebrate with us with his two kids, cousins Jeanne and Charlie. An assortment of hot sauce bottles I offered my husband Francois who likes everething calliente ... We gave each other tons of gifts, ate tons of food, played tons of games and had tons of fun. The cousins, Ulysse and Charlie, having some fun during Christmas vacations, as they do each year. They will be spending 5 days together ... I have a small family, one brother only, and Francois' family all live in different corners of the states ...
A bright red Volkswagen beetle metal toy car, the car of my dreams ... It was small and just perfect! A red wooden bolo paddle my dad built for each of the kids, for fun and as a reminder of days gone by ... So, another Christmas has gone by, leaving red and green remnants here and there ... and a new year starting soon ...P.S. Shhtt! Not a word to anybody! Tomorrow is my birthday !!!

my little paradise ... I drove Ulysse to one of his friends' house nearby this afternoon, the sun was shining and the view was incredible! I came back home, took the three dogs with me and hop! in the car, we went together for a picture ride. No need to search for Winter Wonderland, it is here in Southern Quebec and its shining star is Mont Pinacle, my mountain ... And every day I give thanks for having had the chance of being born in this part of the world where there is no war and where snow mingles with peace ... I am so lucky ... And I took this picture especially for you all. This is line that has been cut out in the woods nearby. This line is the line you see on a map of North America, the line that is drawn between Quebec and Vermont, between Canada and the USA. No, really, this is not a joke!Do you know that about 30 years ago, there were no border offices in this region, you could just drive back and forth from Quebec to USA and back without having to report your travelling. Wow, so many things have happened since then ... The world is changing for sure ...

Snif ... Snif ... Cough ... Cough ... Snif ... Cough ...
I know, I know, I am a lazy blogger these days ... But at least I have an excuse! I am sick ! Well, I mean, we are all sick !!! It must be this crazy winter weather we are getting, one day you can spit in the air and it will freeze before it reaches the ground! Then, the day after, this particular wind arrives with warm air that would make you think the tulips and daffodils are ready to come out of the soil! One day, my fingers are so cold in my woolen gloves that they are too numb to fit the key in the hole in my car's door ... Then, another day, it is so mild and it rains so hard that stream by the pond overflows ... So, I guess it is just normal that one day, you are feeling great then the day after you feel like you are good for nothing !!! Ulysse stayed home with a big cold most of the week and spent tons of time reading. Then, of course, I started sneezing too, and by Monday I needed straws in my nose to breath !!! Now, I have a larynx infection and it is so painful I think I must have lost 5 pounds from eating nothing else than soup, puree and other appetizing mushy food. Francois has gotten it too, he is now laying half-dead on the sofa with fever and a wicked sore throat ... BUT ... I AM SO HAPPY ! ! ! ALL my Christmas shopping is done, ALL my Christmas decorating is done and ALL my commissioned paintings are done ! ! ! Therefore, I am sick and I can take all the time I need to get better ! I will be doing some shipping tomorrow and I guess I will be away from my studio for a bit ... Of course, my Etsy store will be stay open for business so you can drop by and buy a print or two (or three, the third one is FREE). But I will not be adding new paintings until 2009 has arrived and eveyone is back from the holidays. 2008 has been a very good year so far and I am happy to end it this way ... I will be reading all your blogs, will have time to leave comments, to chat some and will write more regularly on my blog. I will spend tons of time with my family and friends and will play outside every day. I work on a mega plastic collage project that has been in the back of my head, I will go ski and skate, I will watch movies and read books. And soon enough, I will be back to my brushes, my colors and my sketch books cause they will be calling me ... and I will be missing them ! I hope everyone is having a great time in this busy buzzy period. Don't forget, do take some time for yourself too !
P.S. This last picture is one of the religious shrine I started in one corner of the living room. I found them here and there in garage sales, they are all old and made of plaster and I think they look so wonderful and inspiring displayed together ...

... is currently the favorite flavor of the house. My mother bought a bag of homemade winterblue cello-wrapped clear hard candies at the local Christmas Food and Folk Art Fair. And we are all hooked on the snappy, glue-your-nostrils-together-cold, peppery hot and sweet treats. So I decided I needed to take a few minutes away from my commissioned orders and paint a sweet little Winter Blue Fairy. She is available on eBay and Etsy, with a Buy It Now option. It would make a very swell gift. This little painting gives off an almost-cold-to-the-touch wintery feeling! It was fun painting it all in shades of blue. I decided to add mica flakes to the background and as I was doing it I noticed it sparkled the same way the snow did in the afternoon today. Then, right on my window sill, came a red gros beak bird, one of those fluffy Christmas red chubby volatile, spying what I was doing through the glass. Et voila! Just what the painting was missing! I think it is just perfect, little bits of winter from here and there, all parts of a cold sunny day here in my little arctic spot of the world ... ARE YOU ALL READY FOR CHRISTMAS ?
IS ALL YOUR SHOPPING DONE ?
ARE YOU UP TO DATE WITH YOUR SHIPPING AND PAINTING AND LISTING AND FINISHING AND ... ? I am almost done in every field and am trying to stay calm and relax. You can do so much ... And when the stress level is too high, it takes the fun out of everything, right? I have been so busy that I totally forgot to celebrate the First anniversary of my blog ! Yep, one year has gone since I started blabla-ing on these cyber pages ... I wanted to do something special on that particular day but it will have to wait till after the holidays. Stay tuned! A new give-away contest is brewing in the back of my brain !

has arrived on ebay and Etsy ! It is an angel of peace, an angel of love. And it is here to wish you all PEACE AND LOVE during this joyful holiday season. And remember, if you can spare a little extra peace and love, share it with someone who might not be getting as much of it as you are. Because, after all, bottom line, this is all we need ...

I wanted to paint Frida in the snow, with fur-trimmed hat and mittens. A wintery Frida. And of course, I could not resist giving the snowman she is holding a calavera (skeleton) style. The words on the painting say 'I Dream of Snow' in Spanish ... Isn't she adorable?
As usual, this Frida in Snow painting is up for bids on eBay or you can buy it right away in my Etsy store. I think she would make a wonderful little present! The snow has completely melted and the grass is showing again. It is chilly, a few degrees below freezing point, but I could not resist riding my bike down the mountain today. Zipping down the hard unpaved road with my favorite knitted trio of red rasta-style tam hat, leopard mittens and candy-cane striped scarf made the exploit even more daring and fun! I like snow but ... I would not mind if it was gone for good and spring was on its way ... (sight!)

How did we manage to arrive to December once again?
Summer ends, school starts, Halloween goes by then you think there is still plenty of time before Christmas ... WRONG ! ! ! Christmas always gets here before I have enough time to do everything that needs to be done ... Most of the snow has melted but I am not fooled ... Christmas will be here soon !
I have been painting 6 days a week lately, from 8 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. when I go down to the village to pick up Ulysse from school. We do homeworks, I prepare supper, we eat and do the dishes, then ZAP ! I go back to my studio with my son-buddy-partner-in-crime. I work again till around 2 a.m. and stop, not because I am tired but usually because my feet are cold from staying seated for so long. But I am happy! I finished my last commissioned painting today and have been working on 4 different other paintings at the same time which I am trying to finish for Wednesday. I will be adding more original canvas and some prints in my Etsy shop and on eBay before the end of the week. That is what I have been up to ! Not much time to write on my blog, or respond to comments, or leave comments on everyone's blog but thank you so much for stopping by and for ALL your wonderful comments about my art. I try not to watch or listen to too much news about the economy and the disasters that seem to tumble behind it. I still can't get over the story of this poor security guard who was stampeded by a bunch of impatient shoppers at Walmart ... Are people going crazy or what? I am living a very simple life made of love, family, sharing and painting and I am very happy with it. BUT ... My shopping is still not all done and it is driving me crazy !!! And the decorations are not all out of the boxes and the cards are not sent and ... I think I will do like Diablo my cat and do the fake-iguana stretch! No need to rush ... CHRISTMAS IS FUN !
