OUCH ! GOT A NASTY MOONBURN !

I dressed up warmly yesterday night and waited outside for the moon to be shaded by planet Earth. The sky was so clear and the night so cold and crisp, the show was perfect. When the eclipse was total the moon looked like a pearl glued to a sparkly black background. And it seemed so much closer than usual...I find it fascinating that we live on a tiny planet, floating in the middle of the universe, surrounded by tons of unknown stars, amazing that each day is a science-fiction style happening and we forget about it...The boys stayed inside and watched it through the kitchen skylight. It was so cold yet really worth it...

As I was coming back from the hospital tonite, the full moon was once again putting on a show. The snow melted last week and it is now covered with a coat of ice. So, as the moon was rising up on the fields and the mountain, it looked like a negative picture of the sun rising on the ocean with a volcano nearby. Just beautiful...

Got myself my dose of moon rays for the month!

YEAR OF THE RAT ART EVENT UPDATE ! ! !

OYE! OYE! OYE!

YEAR OF THE RAT ART EVENT UP DATE ! ! !

Due to all kinds of reasons and factors, I have decided to postpone once again my YEAR OF THE RAT ART EVENT

This will give you the chance to finish your piece of rodent-related art, start it and invite other people to participate.

This event will take place on Monday, March 3rd 2008

So, tell everyone you know about it and ask them to become an artist, if they are not, for this event! Anything artistically related to the rat or mouse will be accepted, so GO WILD !!!

The good thing about all these delays is the surprise bag is transforming into a surprise box, growing each week with something new.

Remember, I will put the names of each participant in a jar and will draw the name of the winner on March 4 2008.

I will get back to you later today with the size of the picture you will be required to send me via email. Remember, I have slow speed, Am a country girl, see! so please do not send me BIG pictures !

DAD will be back home for the weekend !!! Youppi! He has to return to the hospital next Monday for his therapy but he is doing so great, this is the best news of the year so far!

REMEMBER...

March 3rd 2008 !!!

Oh! I LIKE THAT FEBRUARY LIGHT...

Francois and I have been saying for years that here, in Southern Quebec, spring should start officially on February 21, not March 21st. Each year, there is a special day where it seems like light shifts into a different gear, stays longer with us and shines in different tones of warmer colors and shades. Like pure sunray juice.

And today was the day... Around 4 p.m. the light from the sun getting ready to set in a little while seemed to pour from the windows, like spotlights on a theatre scene, ready to highlight the stars of the day. And today's stars were Ulysse coming back from school and my favorite wooden mexican Mariposa hanging in the front room...

SCENE FROM A MESSY STUDIO OR WHAT A LITTLE BUG TOLD ME...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Really...this is what my studio looked like this morning... Messy but with a certain style, I must say, in involuntary tones of pink...a work in progress within a work in progress would be a good description of this scene...

I felt rotten again today, no energy and kinda whoozy with a constant sensation of walking on a floor covered 2 feet deep with soft marshmallows. No need to force it, painting was simply not going to happen today... I drew tons of sketches though, paid my bills, read blogs and replied to mails and simply rode the no-energy wave full moon usually brings me...

Speaking of full moon, you all know tomorrow around 10 p.m. eastern time, there will be a full eclipse of the moon. Meaning the Earth will cast a shadow on the moon which will completely hide it for a while...Which means the Earth will prevent the sun from shining on the moon...Ahhhhh! this is magic, I love it... The night sky and its never-ending deepness is magic... The sun setting on the horizon in bold colors and disapearing in a jiffy is magic...A picture of the planet Earth taken from far in space is magic... I wish I could embark on a space shuttle and experience being outthere in the dark skies, far, far away... Oh, I should have been an astronaut...

I will be getting my camera ready tomorrow night and will sit outside in the snow to try to catch a glimpse of that magic... The next lunar eclipse will be on September 28, 2015. Ulysse will then be 2 days short of being 18 years old !!! Arghhhhhh! Let me run to his bed right away and give my big baby a couple extra kisses while he is still a kid!

A little bug told me today that spring is coming! We have been visited by these strange little soldier bugs for a few years now and they keep appearing in our house when we do not expect them, right in the middle of winter! One of them came out from a tiny nook around my studio's window and stayed on a jar of turquoise paint, basking all morning in the sun, reminding me of an old lady catching rays by the pool. I love insects of all sorts, they do not horify me but rather fascinate me. This one moves slowly and her limbs seem to be completely independent of each other. They also react to movement, a little like a lizard and I feed them apple pieces which they seem to adore. When I checked on her at the end of the day, she had returned from where she had come, probably with a nasty sunburn and a hangover from sipping too much cider...

JUST A COUPLE OF WINTER CHICKS...

OUT ON A TOO-EARLY SPRING DAY. The weather was so mild today and so sweet and oh so sunny! the girls decided to take a walk away from Master Rooster Jello. So they managed to do the chicken walk across the garden to their favorite summer spot. But the bench was too wet so they flapped their wings and perched on the apple tree. Then they spent the afternoon grooming themselves and basking in the sun...You are right girls, spring is coming soon!

I am sorry for being so quiet on my blog and so darn late in answering your mails and comments but it has been very busy here.

Dad is still at the hospital but he is doing better each day, getting back to normal slowly but surely. I visit him every day, the hospital is only 25 minutes from here, we always have a nice chat, laughing at the little happenings of the day and marvelling at each little health improvements. My mom goes everyday, has lunch with him (that she cooks and brings with her) and spend the entire afternoon with him. My brother lives further away but he tries his best to come and visit a couple of times a week.

I got sick last week, high fever, splitting sinus headache and big caugh with extreme fatigue and it is now slowly going away. I think it was caused by all the stressed I went through and that tension needed to come out somehow. So I went to bed early daily, worked some on commissioned paintings already started but had no time to work on new art for either eBay or Etsy. But I think I will be good for a studio day tomorrow...

I can not believe we are going to the Yucatan in Mexico in a little more than 5 weeks! It's been ages since we took a real vacation the 3 of us together, meaning leaving home and staying in a totally different surrounding for 2 weeks! I spent a lot of time in Mexico before Ulysse was born. Francois and I would drive from Southern Quebec to the tip of Yucatan every winter, we would spend a month or two living in a very rudimentary cabana, without electricity, and all we would do is paint, dive and fish, read and write...Then we would hit the road with our old pickup truck and tour Mexico from South to North and East to West. We saw so much in that country, all the souvenirs we have from these adventures are great ones... So, more than 12 years later, were are going back to the same cabana and will be meeting friends we met then, who will be spending time on the beach too. I can't wait for Ulysse to live that experience, there is so much to see and feel and taste and try and touch and view...Ohhhhh, can't wait to be there again !!! I will take tons of pictures and write a journal everyday so once I am back home, I will be posting it all on this blog.

I haven't written much but have been checking everybody's blog and I promised I will be saying Hi! again soon...I was given the YOU MAKE MY DAY AWARD by Susan at http://a walk in the park.blogspot.com ! Thank you so much Susan, YOU made my day! It pleases me so to know you are enjoying my regular blablabla on everything! THANKS SUSAN! You are wonderful! I guess it is now my turn to give the awards to my favorite blogs. Let me build my list tonite and I will get back to you tomorrow and list their names.

Hope life is good for you all...Take care...

A SIMPLE BLUETIFUL WINTER DAY...

Blue and White and Sunny ... crisp, sparkly, clean and bright... A day so perfect, it gave me no choice but to stop and be amazed by it several times ... Fresh, pure, refreshing like a virgin snowcone, plump and soft like a big snow mattress. I walked a lot today, to get rid of all the bad stuff that kept trying to attach itself to me, illness, sadness, depression, madness, fear, disapointment, worry, tiredness... I walked and walked till I could feel only the cool new energy filling me... Then I ran to this field, just laid there on my back in the snow, drank all the blue sky I could take and spent a good five minutes making snow angels... It was wonderful!

Just a bluetiful bright winter day...

BREATHE IN, BREATHE OUT ...

Papa's health was going up and down, up and down but today turned out to be a VERY good day, lots of improvement movement-wise and he is regaining his appetite, which he had completely lost since Tuesday, February 5 when he had minor stroke. I inherited my positive outlook on life from my dad. And when he got sick, I thought for a moment he had lost it, I almost did not recognize him. But tonite, he called me just to say bonjour and the shine had returned in his voice. His inner sunshine is back...And I am very happy about it.

I was able to manage half-days in my studio almost daily since his accident and whipped up a couple of very good sketches for new paintings. Was also able to finish a couple of in-progress pieces and a bunch of little things I have been putting aside from week to week. So, I should be able to list a new painting on eBay Friday and maybe more. I miss painting full day.

My YEAR OF THE RAT ART EVENT CONTEST IS STILL ON, simply postponed till February 21 2008. I will get back to you with details on how and where to post a picture of your rodent creation. I am sorry I had to delay but too many things happened at the same time and I can only split my personality in 5 different pieces, not more!

Ulysse and Vicki worked on new creations lately and we just mounted them on my studio wall. I just love them!

On a last note that will make you laugh: The title of my last post was "I love you big like this", also the title of a painting I had a picture of. Well, I got quite a few comments when I checked my email the morning after and I just could not believe them! One was from IYAMYOURMAN, another from BIGBOOBSAMTEUR.COM and a few more from writers I do not dare type the name here! Well, I guess that is what happens when you translate from French to English word for word... Oh la la !!!

MY &@!!?*%!%?@@&^&bip%?":$&#@^bip COMPUTER ...

FINALLY, my computer works !!!

I CANNOT believe it ! I died 9 days ago, when we had a minor power outage due to real gusty winds. It just ceased to live suddenly. But I took care of it right away, called Dell and asked to talk to a technician. I was almost sure the modem had crashed, you know the little gadget that permits your computer to dial and connect to the net. But they did not agree. They said there were 98% chances it could be fixed through the phone. So, for 8 days, EVERY DAY, I spent a couple of hours trying different tactics, diagnostics, installations, downloads and patches. EVERY DAY, a different technician, as nice as possible, would give me new hope, with new plans and potions and miracle solutions. And EVERY DAY, it did not work. So, when I got tired of it all, when I lost confidence and I guess, when I suddenly transformed myself into a computer geek, I told them politely to go fix someone else's computer. I went online, found the @^#%%$ modem for $4.00 on the net, paid for overnight shipping, got it today, unscrewed the door where my laptops hides its little secrets, and changed it. Francois and Ulysse were holding their breath, dreading what creature I would turn into if the thing did not dial up ...

AND IT DID ! IT WORKS ! MY COMPUTER IS ALIVE !

I think I will bronze the tiny screwdriver I used to open the sacred tiny door of my computer from hell and will make it into a little trophy that I can put on a shelf nearby to look at to remind me that

If I can fix my computer, I can do anything !!!

I LOVE YOU BIG LIKE THIS !

For sale on eBay now, come take a peek ! Sold ! Thanks a bunch Beth!

I had so much fun painting this one, another of my favorites!

And my last Valentine Day painting for this year !

THERE IS ALWAYS A BRIGHT SIDE ...

TO EVERYTHING !!!

Always a sparkle where the sun does not shine, always a tiny little light at the end of the darkest tunnel...

YOU HAVE TO SEE THE POSITIVE SIDE OF ANYTHING BAD THAT COMES YOUR WAY

This is what I tell myself and teach my son every day...

Après la pluie, le beau temps... After the rain, comes the sunshine...

My dad is doing well, improving daily and hopeful he will be back to his usual self maybe not right away but very soon... His stroke was mild and he was in excellent shape, so it could have been much worse.

We were laughing together tonite, remembering how he tought, just a few days ago, that sunless cold winter days were so boring and dull...Looking back at them now, these were just fine days...

MY LIFE IS IN SUSPENSION...

STILL NO COMPUTER !!!

It is hard for me to connect at the moment, my other computer is too slow and not efficient at all...

And my dad is at the hospital since yesterday morning, having had a mild ACV (cerebral vascular accident) that left him very, very mild paralyzed left side, arm and leg only, not body or face. The pronostics of getting him back to his complete normal self are very good, but they need to work on him for a while, so he will be staying at the hospital at least till Monday. We keep our fingers crossed, his is such a young 72 yeas old!!!

So, these two things added together are unfortunately causing a delay in my YEAR OF THE RAT ART EVENT due date of tomorrow, Feb 7 2008. I am postponing the date to February 21st 2008, which gives you all a few more days to finish your rodent related chef d'oeuvre. Sorry for these delays, but I do not have enough time at the moment and no usage of my darn computer... I have a few great new paintings! Can't wait to show you! I will be posting one on eBay tonite, if possible. And will try to add a picture of it here... I miss reading your blogs and talking a round the block walk in the wonderful world of the web.... grrrrrrrrr!!!

VALENTINE ANGELS TRIO...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
I finally managed to post this new painting on eBay, it took me about 2 hours to do it on my old iMac. This is my biggest painting so far and I am so happy with it! The colors are wonderful, so are the textures. One last Valentine painting and that's it for this year! This one measures 16"x20". I can not figure how to add a picture of it to my blog so far, so if you want to see it you can view it at I can't wait to get my laptop back to normal, I miss the dear thing!!!

I AM MOURNING...

my darn computer, who died on me for the 2nd time in the past 3 months !!! I am working on my old first generation iMac and it is so slow, it is killing me! I have a few new paintings I can not wait to show you but it will have to wait, at least until tomorrow. I will not write a novel here, just wanted to let you know that I am alive and well and missing my laptop so much, I could cry (well, not really but...) Have a great weekend! And don't forget that the grand YEAR OF THE RAT ART EVENT CONTEST IS COMING UP SOON !!!!
